Bionic Sports Futures is a speculative project based on several trends in cutting edge research and society. It proposes an alternative system for the Olympics based on E-games. Each athlete would have a limited set of points to spend on bionic upgrades. This evens the playing field with regards to technological advantages within sports. Furhermore it stimulates technological advancements in sports.
The project comprises of three futuristic bionic designs that athletes could buy. The designs were 3D printed and are currenlty being made ready to be displayed.
“What happens when bionic technology is integrated in sports?”
For centuries humans have competed in sports to be the best and go the furthest. Over time technology has become a key factor in what it means to be the best. In the 2016 Brazil Paralympics, bionic runners outran the Olympic runners.
Paralelly, developments in addative manufacturing and synthetic biology are developing at a rapid pace. It is now possible to 3d print human cells and soon complete organs. Futhermore, trends like body modifaction are evermore commonplace.
Expendable Muscles is inspired by single use Formula 1 engines. It is a system of replaceable muscles engineered for unmatched performance. Currently we offer two Cartridges, one optimised for power and the other for durability.
The second proposed innovation is Acid Valves. A self-contained muscular respiration system that expels both lactic acid as well as heat directly from where they’re accumulated inside the muscle.
Lastly the project includes several new skin topology variants. These include textures optimised for aerodynamics, hydrodynamics and impact resistance.
