Tiles and Diffusers
There is always a challenge in scaling additive manufacture both in terms of size and quantity. Using hybrid workflows can sometimes provide the best of both worlds. This exploration looks at how we can produce computational geometries at scale using large format FDM printing to create moulds for casting concrete. The cast tiles have complex textures that pleasingly interact with light.
Similar models and large scale printing was also used to create light diffusers that highlight the textures in an unassuming way. Textures were created using tuned mathmetical noises and other algorithms like Reaction Diffusion.
